On Sunday, the lovely O took me out on an adventure. With all the moving tomfoolery, it's been a while since we just went out and had some good old fashioned fun. He wouldn't tell me where we were going, just that we were going somewhere for a meal and that we had been before! Of course, this was no help. All we do is go out for meals, so it wasn't until we drove through Loch Lomond that I had an inkling of where we were off to.
O and I have been to the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Restaurant three times now and each time I am still in awe of the scenery and of course the amazing seafood. The first time was last summer, en route to Islay for a holiday of camping and whisky distilleries. The brunch is by far the best I've ever eaten. The lunch and dinner menus are out of this world. The fish is the freshest (is this a word?) I've eaten and what with the restaurant being literally sat on the banks of Loch Fyne, the view is one of the most beautiful things I've ever set my eyes on.
I think the photos (taken on my iPhone, so not very fancy) speak for themselves, albeit slightly moody. We danced in and out of rain showers the whole day and by the time we arrived at the restaurant the sun was just leaving for the day. Can we just take a moment to appreciate those HILLS?!? This is the Scotland I love and I am so so happy to be home. If you're ever over on the west coast, a trip to Loch Fyne is a must. Get the smoked salmon starter and a bottle of West's St Mungo...you won't regret it!
